About the Makers
Bird Kin Messages was created by two profound artists. Karma Leigh is a Chicana artist and educator from Colorado who was blessed to grow up between two worlds - the urban life of the city and the natural wonders of the Rockies. Sumer is a Choctaw/Cherokee/Saudi writer and artist based in Colorado. Bird Kin is a spirit-led project that was crowdsourced and community supported. It is a journey of healing and education.

Civil Alchemy is a handmade, slow fashion brand founded by Kelley Hall-Barr, and her son, Ian VanDam. Inspired by nature, Kelley shares her concepts of simplicity and function, creating timeless lasting and sustainable pieces. When not running the brick-and-mortar Ian travels, seeking out like-minded artisans and makers, forging relationships with creatives all around the world which allows for collaboration on a local and international level.

Girl w/ Knife is the creative vision of artist Elicia Castaldi. Elicia combines her collage and paper lust with her love of fashion, travel, and a good laugh. Her illustrations are a mixture of paint, cut paper, and digital elements, and her fierce white cat keeps a watchful eye on her creative processes ensuring products that are feminine, authentic, and unapologetic. They believe in a life lived glamorously, with reckless abandon, in 6 inch stilettos. Made and printed in Los Angeles.

Urb Apothecary is founder, Leyna Allred's, vision for bringing the healing power of plants into daily beauty and grooming rituals, and reconnecting individuals with their own natural beauty while being mindful of environmental impact. Every product is intentionally made in her studio in California. Materials are sourced from only the purest quality, fair-trade, organic, and local suppliers.

Bandits Bandanas is co-founded by Nicole & Connor Humphreys, a couple of self-proclaimed "bandana enthusiasts."  While traveling internationally, their frayed and sweaty bandanas became essential daily items. Scratchy pesticide cotton, boring patterns, and suspect manufacturing was the reason they created Bandits. They now work with artists to create mind-blowing bandana designs that are rooted in collaboration, inspire original expression, and create positive change. All bandanas raise funds for important causes all over the world.

Carter & Rose is a brick and mortar, as well as, a makers studio owned by Anna VonRosenstiel. They focus on producing and representing quality, handmade goods in Portland, Oregon. Anna lives her community over competition values and has mentored and provided jobs to many creative women we admire.

May this shop grow strong, and provide for many women.

Why Shop small

Sending gifts from PennyLark means you are supporting women owned, small business with values. Search gifts creatively made without the labor and environmental exploitation of mass produced overseas goods. We run our business on love of community, and wrap every package like a gift.

I recently discovered this amazing website and ordered necklaces for my daughters. I received them in 2 days! Not only did they arrive quickly, they were carefully packed and beautifully wrapped. I wanted to peek so bad but resisted because I wouldn’t be able to duplicate the wrapping. This website empowers, features and recognizes women artists and honors their work.
They cared so much they asked for feedback and responded when I provided it. This will definitely be one of my go to sites for gift giving.

We all need that special thing for our ourselves/lover/sister/friend.

The sweet thing is that the research is done on where to intentionally drop our cash! I simply love the products, stories behind who creates the products and the fact that I can depend on the best curated collections.

This all makes Pennylark Finery my go-to place - and why I’m getting ready to put order number four out the door. Thank you, PennyLark Finery!
